Anwar Inspects Flood Prevention and Repair Infrastructure Development

South Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar monitored the acceleration of development and repair of flood prevention infrastructure in several locations.

The monitoring was started from the construction of Sarua River retaining wall in Kalibata Urban Village, Pancoran District. Then the repair of Pulo River retaining wall in Jati Padang Urban Village, Pasar Minggu District, and repair of channel for Uangan River in Bintaro Urban Village, Pesanggrahan District.

Anwar stated that it is important to accelerate the construction and repair of retaining walls as an effort to maintain environmental safety and minimize the potential for flooding in the South Jakarta area.

"The aim of this work is to strengthen the riverbank structure and prevent landslides around the river flow," he said, Tuesday (9/2).

In addition to prohibiting residents from throwing waste or debris into the river, Anwar appealed residents not to build buildings on the riverbanks that could potentially change the structure of the retaining wall.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency's Head Section of Maintenance, Junjung explained the projects are run to anticipate inundation during rainy season.

According to him, the projects have been running since end of August 2025 and are targeted to complete in the next two months and up to end of the year.

"We do all the work optimally for the best results," he explained.
